I’ve never heard anyone say they don’t need any more dessert recipes — have you? We’re Team Dessert all day, so we’re always looking to get creative with our sweets. These keto-friendly chocolate donuts with cream cheese frosting are the perfect recipe for you to incorporate in your dessert lineup…or dare we say breakfast?
With only 209 calories, 2 grams net carbs, and 19 grams healthy fats per donut, you can experience this luscious chocolate and cream cheese combination without any guilt. Not to mention, these babies are made with almond flour and coconut flour, which are way more nutritious than regular flour. They are both high in protein and fiber, and work together quite nicely to create the ideal texture for our gluten-free, paleo, and keto-friendly baked goods.
Wondering how we created a dessert that’s suitable for the keto diet? By using monkfruit sugar, of course! Monkfruit sugar is considered to be a sugar alcohol, so it’s not absorbed by the body in the same way as regular sugar. This keeps your blood sugar low after digestion, getting rid of those spikes that make sugar somewhat of a wildcard.
The only way to make this delicious donut base even better is to slather it in three-ingredient cream cheese frosting! That’s right – all you need is vegan cream cheese, more monkfruit sugar, and a little plant-based milk to whip up these easy cream cheese frosting. If you are looking for a good brand of vegan cream cheese, we recommend Kite Hill brand. Let it sit out at room temperature for a bit to soften, and it’ll be even easier to whip into a dreamy creamy, perfectly sweet donut topper!
If you’re on the keto diet and have a few carbs left to spare for the delay, feel free to garnish your cream cheese frosting with a low-carb fruit, such as berries or pomegranate seeds!
